Profile:
Shepard Schools are state-approved private high school programs for classified students with behavioral and/or learning problems. We service students in Grades 7 & 8 and Grades 9 through 12. We are centrally located in historic Morristown, New Jersey. Our current enrollment is comprised of over 130 high school and middle school age children.
The school day operates from 8:20 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Transportation
is provided by the sending school district.
Student Characteristics:
Students who attend Shepard School generally struggle with a variety
of behavioral and/or learning problems. These may include: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder, Depression and Anxiety Disorders, concomitant learning problems as well as other types of problems. Typically these students demonstrate difficulty succeeding either academically or socially in a regular public middle school or high school setting.
Staff Information:
Shepard Schools employ a full-time Director, Principal, Dean of Students, Psychologists, Learning Consultant, Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist. The teaching staff is comprised of NJ Highly Qualified, Certified Teachers in all subject areas, including Drama, Music and Art, a Remediation Teacher, a Structured Learning Teacher, and at least two trained classroom aides
in each class.
